Our story

IMG_E5355_edited.jpg

Villa Nolen is the family home of Doctor Nolen, a doctor living in St Barth at the end of the 1970s.

In 1977, Jean and Marie-Christine Nolen left France aboard their sailboat with their 3 children aged 3, 4 and 5, to explore new horizons and why not, go around the world.

After an epic Atlantic crossing, the Nolen family traveled to the West Indies for a few years, stopping at the whim of doctor's replacements to fill up the boarding box.

In 1979, the doctor in St Barth unfortunately disappeared in a plane crash during a medical transfer. His widow asked Doctor Nolen if he wanted to take over his medical practice.

That's how we settled in St Barth, living a few more years on the boat in the beautiful bay of St Jean. When the kids were 9, 10 and 11 it was time to go ashore.

Unfortunately, sometimes history repeats itself and Doctor Nolen, 10 years after his colleague, also disappeared in a helicopter accident while carrying out a medical transfer of a patient to Guadeloupe.

Marie-Christine therefore completed the construction of the house on her own and, instead of living in it, rented it out in order to be able to pay for the studies of her 3 children who were at the time 15, 16 and 18 years old.

Today Marie-Christine lives in Paris and enjoys reuniting with her children and her 9 grandchildren in this wonderful holiday home.

In 2017, like too many houses on our island, our villa was partly destroyed by cyclone IRMA. During 2 years, we have put a lot of energy into its reconstruction and transformation. On this occasion, we renamed it Villa Nolen in honor of Doctor Nolen.

We are very happy to be able to share, once again, our little piece of paradise and hope, if you choose to rent Villa Nolen, that it contributes to the writing of wonderful holiday memories with family or friends.

We wish you a great vacation!
